In pictures: Scene of Mali army base attack

The Malian military says it has repelled an attack on its main military base just outside the capital, Bamako.

The AFP news agency has filed photos of a crowd gathered outside the Kati base around a man, who cannot be seen, who was suspected of taking part in what the military authorities called a terrorist attack.

According to AFP, the man was beaten by the crowd.

In a statement, the military said two of the attackers were killed in the attack that involved two cars packed with explosives.

In the photo below, people are looking down at a man who is lying on the road (not seen in the photo).
