Tragedy has hit the palace of Oba Abdulahi Okunloye, the Olofa of Ofatedo, as an unidentified cult group allegedly stormed his son’s residence and shot him dead.
The incident occurred in the early hours of today, Saturday in Ofatedo, Egbedore Local Government area of Osun State.
Radio Nigeria learned that the unknown gunmen approached 43-year-old Yinusa Okunloye’s residence around 12 am on Saturday, dragged the prince out, and shot him in the chest.
The aftermath of the prince’s death led to a roadblock as early as 8 am in the community, with businesses closed.
Police Public Relations Officer, Osun State Police Command Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident explaining that “a group of suspected cultists about three in number invaded Olofa street, Ofatedo and called Okunloye out of his room and shot him in his chest leading to his death”.
The police spokesperson said, no one had been arrested for the killing but promised that all efforts were on deck to bring the suspects to book.
The remains of the prince according to the police had been deposited at UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
