Iran could finish examining the U.S. response on the European Union's final proposal to revive the nuclear deal by early September, according to Nur News, a news portal close to the Iranian presidency.
Tehran continues to "carefully review the U.S. response at the expert level," so this process "will continue at least until the end of next week," according to this media outlet, which is closely aligned with Iran's Supreme National Security Council, as reported by Bloomberg.
Washington responded on Wednesday to the proposed final text of the European Union High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, a response that the EU forwarded to the participants of the nuclear agreement, in particular to the Iranian authorities for their consideration."The American counter-proposal is reasonable and the ball is now in Tehran's court. We hope it will come out," said earlier the head of EU diplomacy on the negotiations to return to the Iranian nuclear pact.
The EU sees the proposal as a final document for participants to sign or reject, following a 16-month process of talks, mainly in Vienna, to get the U.S. to return to the Iranian nuclear deal.
The negotiations seek to re-establish strict limits on Iran's nuclear activity in exchange for the United States relaxing some of its sanctions on the Persian republic's economy, including that imposed on its oil exports.
