Actor Tyler Perry has successfully acquired the BET Media Group, which encompasses VH1 and the BET+ streaming service, from Paramount Global.

According to Grape Juice, Paramount Global, who previously collaborated with Perry through the BET+ venture, will maintain minority ownership in the company.
Perry openly expressed his interest in acquiring the BET Media Group during an interview in March of this year. In fact, he explicitly mentioned his intentions to ET.
"Rumor? No, it’s not a rumour. I’ve been there for four years now and had tremendous success. I wasn’t expecting this to happen, so, yes – if that is possible, I’m very, very interested in taking as much of it. If it’s possible, I’m gonna take as much of it as I can.â€
Reports indicated that Tyler Perry was in a bidding war with P. Diddy and 50 Cent for the cable network.
