Arsenal lifted the Community Shield at an empty Wembley as Rhian Brewster's penalty miss cost Liverpool after Takumi Minamino had cancelled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's opener.
Arsenal lifted silverware at Wembley once again as they beat Liverpool 5-4 on penalties after the Community Shield finished 1-1 after 90 minutes.
The Gunners took the lead in the first half when captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang curled in a stunning effort.
Mikel Arteta's side were worthy of their lead but tired as the game progressed after having just one week of pre-season training to prepare.
Takumi Minamino made pressure count as he slotted in his first ever Liverpool goal when the ball dropped to him in a strong position.
That set up a penalty shoot-out with no side able to find a winner with youngster Rhian Brewster, brought on as a last-minute substitute, hitting the crossbar with Liverpool's third spot kick.
Aubameyang made no mistake as he wrapped up a clean sweep of penalties for Arsenal to give them victory.
Here's how players from both sides rated at Wembley.
Arsenal
Martinez 8 - Big statement to start with Martinez over Leno. Looks a proper No1.
Bellerín 7 - Looks good both as a right and wing back, they must keep him.
Luiz 6 - Surprise starter, looked a bit rusty and passing was rather sloppy.
Holding 7 - On the brink of joining Newcastle, but still did himself justice. Excellent.

Tierney 7- Another excellent display. Adaptable on left side of defence. Solid.
Maitland-Niles 8 - Another statement to start with AMN. Didn’t let anyone down. Determined.
Elneny 6 - Has now started both pre-season friendlies. Did the simple things well.
Xhaka 7 - Looked very strong and composed in midfield, another impressive display.

Saka 7 - Has become Arsenal ’s assist king. Set up the opener. Brilliant decision making.
Aubameyang 7 - Brilliant opening goal, his work rate, add another zero to the contract.
Nketiah 7 - His work rate was phenomenal. Closed down, challenged and was terrific.

Cedric, for Bellerin, 58 mins, 6
Willock, for Saka, 82 mins
Nelson, for Nketiah, 82 mins
Kolasinac, 82 mins.
Subs: Leno, Saliba, Olayinka, Smith Rowe, John-Jules.
Alisson 6 - Relatively quiet afternoon, the less busy of the keepers but was solid.
Williams 6 - Struggled defensively, gave Aubameyang too much space, sacrificed early.

Gomez 7 - had his hands full with hard working Nketiah and Aubameyang cutting inside.
Van Dijk 7 - You can hear his every word in an empty stadium. Strong leadership.
Robertson 7 - Terrific raiding runs forward, lovely teasing crosses, what a player.
