Hon Uche Ugwu, Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly
The Enugu State House of Assembly has described the publication by Sahara Reporters alleging that they are owed two months salary arrears and have been reduced to rubber stamp as falsehood, intended to mislead the public and a figment of the imagination of fault finders and enemies of the people of Enugu State.
In a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Speaker of the House Rt. Hon Uche Ugwu, he described the publication as laughable and handwork of mischief makers.
Some people are not happy with the good work going on in the State as well as the peace and cordial relationship existing between the Executive and the Legislative arms of Government. You don’t tell lies on something that has proof.
There is no truth in the publication. Some people want to be like Dangote with public funds. It doesn’t add up. If you want to make money, find a business, he retorted. This government believes in accountability, traceability and transparency.
On the issue of being reduced to rubber stamp, the Speaker insisted that the House of Assembly performs her functions without external interference. The only issue here is that some people wish to see the Assembly fight with the Executive. I am sorry to disappoint them.
We engage ourselves in discussions not in fighting. The Speaker enjoined the people of Enugu to keep supporting Governor Mbah’s administration because he means well for them.
