Edo State Commissioner for Education, Paddy Iyamu, says normalcy has returned to the state following the violence that trailed an anti-kidnapping protest in Ekpoma.
Iyamu made this known on Wednesday on ‘Sunrise Daily’, a programme on Channels Television monitored by Daily Post
Daily Post reports that several students of the Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, were arrested during the protest.
“We have released a communique. Students are to return back to school on Monday. The school resumes in Edo Central on Monday because normalcy has been restored.
“The governor is even still in the general area trying to make sure that the peace is sustained.
“And so far so good, normalcy has been restored. Security agencies are doing a lot.
We didn’t sleep till 1:00 am this morning trying to release the students.
“We are going to release the last tranche. And all together, 38 students will be released,” he said.
