Music, drama, to light up 2021 Kayokayo Festival in Epe

MUSIC and drama are part of the activities lined up to light up the 2021 edition of the Kayokayo festival in Epe area of Lagos state.

The annual Epe Kayokayo Festival, which began on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 and is expected to culminate on Saturday, September 11, 2021 has various activities lined up for the event. Part of the activities include a royal visit to Olu-Epe, Tahjud night, Jummat Service, an annual prayer at the palace, as well as a drama performance at the Epe theatre, and the Lighting of  Etufu by Olu Epe of Epe kingdom.

The finale caps a few days of activities and brings together people from all classes within and outside Epe, with excitement already in the air following a line up that kicked off on Wednesday.

During a media briefing, Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale, said all Nigerians are welcome to the event while noting the historical significance of Kayokayo festival even in the midst of the pandemic.

Also touching on the festival, chairperson of Epe Local Government, Surah Olayemi Animashaun said: “Kayokayo Festival is all about a way to show live to one another in Epe. It doesn’t even end with people in Epe because those outside Epe are also included, we bring them in, we show them love, that is after the normal Muslim festival.
