UNP Secretary General Palitha Range Bandara said that the government should take immediate legal action against former President Maithripala Sirisena for shunning his responsibilities during the Easter bombings.

He was addressing a Party membership promotion campaign in Anamaduwa recently.
Banadara said it is clear from the evidence that Sirisena had shunned his responsibilities.
“He was the Commander-in-Chief and was in charge of security and Police in addition to being the President.
But he did not act on the information received and went on trips to Malaysia and Singapore when the attacks happened,” he said.
Bandara said that Sirisena himself appointed a Commission to prosecute the former IGP Pujith and Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and the Courts recently acquitted both of them while criticizing the action taken by the Attorney General.
