At least 47 Nigerian soldiers have been killed in an ambush by the Islamist militants Boko Haram, according to the military in the West African nation.
It is one of the deadliest attacks targeting Nigerian soldiers in recent weeks.
The troops were killed on Monday when insurgents attacked a convoy which had left the city of Maiduguri in north-east with a supply of bombs and other ammunition.
The troops came under fire in an ambush by insurgents.
Rocket-propelled grenades were reportedly fired at the convoy, causing a large explosion.
Army spokesman Abdussalam Sani told the BBC that a air force bomber later killed the militants.
